Bike meets helmet

Two industries that have been advancing separately, now connected.

The bike industry and the helmet industry have seen plenty of advancements on the connectivity and safety sides over the past decade, but each has been operating independently. Compatibility with the Live Data Interface from Bosch eBike Systems brings that data into UNIT 1's Active Safety technology, so the helmet can use live data from the bike.

Watch It In Action

Three connected behaviours. Zero input from the rider.

Helmet Auto-ON

When the bike turns on, the helmet powers on automatically. Active Safety tech is running on every ride.

Automatic Brake Light

When the bike decelerates, the helmet's brake light activates. Better communication to the drivers behind you, at head height.

Light Match

Helmet lights mirror the bike's light settings. Full control of your lighting from one place — the handlebars.

Frequently asked questions

Which UNIT 1 helmets are compatible with Bosch?

Every adult UNIT 1 Smart Helmet. If you already ride a FARO, AURA or NEON, you'll get Bosch compatibility through a free firmware update, no new helmet needed. From 2027, all new UNIT 1 helmets ship compatible with the Live Data Interface from Bosch eBike Systems, straight out of the box.

Which e-bikes are covered?

Any ebike with the smart system from Bosch from 2022 onward, which is when the system was introduced.

How does the Live Data Interface work?

The Live Data Interface opens the door to real-time data from the Bosch smart eBike system, free of charge and easy to integrate into products via a standardised interface, so that they are positioned in the eBike market. Read more.

When does Bosch compatibility go live?

Fall 2026. From that moment, the connected features become available to existing riders via firmware update.

Do I have to pay for the update?

No. Bosch compatibility arrives as a free firmware update for every compatible UNIT 1 adult helmet. It's not an add-on or a subscription, it's a new capability of the helmet you already own.

Do I need to pair anything, or open an app?

To connect the helmet with the bike, follow these instructions (link to a video).

Once helmet and bike are connected, the three behaviors run on their own: the helmet powers on with the bike, the brake light fires when you slow down, and your helmet lights follow the bike's light settings. Nothing to press, nothing to remember.

What happens if my bike is older than 2022?

Compatibility with Bosch needs the smart system from Bosch (2022 onward), so older systems aren't covered.

Is my helmet still fully certified with Bosch compatibility on?

Yes. Bosch compatibility is a software layer on top of the helmet, it doesn't touch the shell, the liner or the protection system. Your helmet keeps its NTA-8776 certification and Mips System, and a 5-star Virginia Tech safety rating.

Which eBike brands are compatible?
